ABC is a 70+ year old family business that’s grown to be a leader in the home services industry in Chicagoland and Tampa, FL. Our secret is our people. Our technicians perform repairs on plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems, mostly in residences. We use a suite of custom applications to manage and facilitate our calls. Our technicians use a React Native iOS app to interact with our customers and share important call details with our office. We use a combination of a Rails app, PostgreSQL, Firebase and Pro5/BBj to manage our invoicing, accounting, and other back-office tasks.

Essentially, this position will focus on improving our current iOS app, building new features for the iOS app, and building out our Rails Admin app. Our in-house developer will work closely with our excellent outside contractors to create a 5-star experience for our technicians and customers.

Because it is unlikely that any one person will be an expert in all of these, the ideal applicant should:

Be well versed in as many of the above technologies as possible. React Native and Rails are the most important.
Demonstrate a strong aptitude for problem-solving and learning new technologies
Have a strong general grasp of distributed systems
Demonstrate drive and curiosity to investigate, ask the right questions, and pick-up the necessary expertise as they go

Has enough confidence to propose solutions that consider long-term technical and security concerns and experience to support the proposals.
