Summary: The Engineering Manager will lead a high functioning engineering team with strong management, technical, and architectural skills. This role is expected to have expert knowledge of modern software development technology, principles, and patterns and how to effectively apply them to a robust, mature software suite. The Engineering Manager will relentlessly pursue improvement of both technical skills and processes while leading efficient and consistent production of value for existing and new customers.

Essential Functions:

Manages, leads, and coaches a team of software development professionals with varying skill levels and backgrounds, working with a variety of platforms and technologies
Works closely with the Product Team including the Product Manager, Product Owner, and the development team to estimate and iterate towards strategic product goals
Fosters the performance, career development, and job satisfaction of Engineering Team as a leader and mentor, including holding regular one-on-ones with direct reports
Performs code reviews and provides architectural direction
Contributes with hands-on development as an expert-level engineer
Reinforces developmental best practices for quality, deployment, and security
Spearheads efforts to modernize and stabilize code and infrastructure
Works with and reports to the Director of Engineering on strategic planning and goals, metrics, and engineer development, retention, and hiring
Attends and participates in job related classes and webinars
Adheres to all company policies and procedures including safety standards
Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

8+ years hands-on experience as a developer
2+ years of people management / leadership
5+ years overall web development experience
5+ years .NET/C# development experience
3+ years SQL development
3+ years with a modern front-end framework/library (React, Angular, Vue, etc.), with React experience preferred
2+ years' experience with cloud computing systems, with AWS experience preferred
Deep understanding of Agile software development and DevOps best practices
Solid knowledge of development security best practices
iOS/Android development experience and/or experience shipping mobile apps preferred
Experience working for a SaaS or payments industry-based company preferred
Ability to maintain organization while prioritizing responsibilities and workflows
Commitment to continual job-related learning, including company systems and external processing platforms

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or related computer science field
