Job Title: Founding Engineer (Front-End Focus)

About Us:

We are a venture-backed startup that recently raised our pre-seed round, building a personalized sports media content platform. Our platform leverages strategic partnerships to deliver engaging, tailored sports content to users, and we're gearing up for a public launch. Our CEO, a seasoned entrepreneur with a successful exit in the sports content space under his belt, and our CTO, with deep expertise in machine learning, data engineering, and cloud infrastructure, are looking for a talented Founding Engineer to join the team as our third full-time employee. This role would start in a remote capacity with the understanding that the company would eventually be headquartered in New York City.

The Role:

As a Founding Engineer (Front-End), you’ll be an integral part of our early team, shaping the front-end experience of our platform and contributing to the overall product development. You’ll work directly with our CTO to build a seamless and engaging user interface using Expo and React Native. While your primary focus will be on front-end development, versatility is a plus—we work with Ruby on Rails for backend services and Python for data pipelines and machine learning, so experience or interest in these areas is highly desirable.

What You’ll Do:

Lead the development of our mobile application’s front-end, ensuring a smooth, responsive, and engaging user experience.
Collaborate with the CTO on architecture and product design, bringing your unique perspective to shape the direction of our technology.
Build and iterate on new features rapidly, with a keen eye on user feedback and experience.
Contribute to backend development using Ruby on Rails and support Python-based data pipelines and ML models, as needed.
Play a key role in our success as we move toward the public launch, influencing the technical direction and the future of our engineering team.
Prepare for future leadership opportunities, as we envision this role growing into a larger technical leadership position over time.

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience and expertise (4+ years) in front-end development using Expo/React Native.
Familiarity with backend development using Ruby on Rails and Python for data pipelines or machine learning is a big plus. Extensive experience in this area is not required.
Comfort working in a startup environment: self-driven, proactive, and adaptable.
Curiosity, creativity, and a strong desire to build something new and impactful.
Experience or interest in cloud engineering and scaling.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Desire to lead and manage engineering teams as the company grows.
