Role Overview
Our client is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own the front-end engineering capability. You will be the primary onshore technical resource responsible for translating UX design into a consistent, high-quality user experience across our application suite.
This is a hands-on role. You will build and own the design system and component library, implement UI from wireframes and UX specifications, and set the front-end standards the offshore development team executes against. You will also handle backend development utilizing Node.js but most of the work will be in the front end. Initially or temporarily there will be about 20% production support.
Responsibilities
Front-End Engineering
- Own and build the design system and shared component library across all portals
- Implement UI from wireframes and work with UX specifications with precision and consistency
- Define front-end standards, patterns, and code quality expectations for the offshore team
- Ensure visual and functional consistency across all four portals
- Collaborate with a contracted UX Specialist during an initial engagement to translate journey maps and design frameworks into implementable specifications
Full-Stack Contribution
- Build and maintain Node.js back-end services as needed to support front-end features
- Collaborate with the offshore architecture and development team on API design and integration
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering quality standards
AI-Native Development
- Leverage AI tooling (Cursor, Claude, Copilot, or equivalent) as a core part of your development workflow
- Contribute to the team’s adoption of agentic AI capabilities within the product and development process
- Stay current with emerging AI engineering tools and evaluate their applicability
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience as a UI Developer
- Strong proficiency in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
- Solid Node.js back-end experience
- Main development language must be TypeScript/JavaScript, strong in React and node.js
- Experience building and maintaining design systems or component libraries
- Demonstrated ability to implement high-quality UI from wireframes and design specifications
- AWS deployment and infrastructure experience
- Active use of AI coding tools in daily development workflow
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a healthcare, compliance, or regulated industry environment
- Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks and orchestration
- Experience with payments infrastructure (e.g., Stripe)
- Initial background in production support or on-call engineering
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment with shared ownership across functions
