QA Lead Digital Platform & Commerce Engineering

About the Role
Our client is modernizing a large-scale digital ecosystem spanning mobile apps, web ordering, loyalty, identity, and payments serving millions of guests across iconic QSR brands. We need a hands-on QA Lead to own quality engineering end-to-end: driving an automation-first culture across mobile (iOS/Android), web, and API layers in a cloud-native, microservices environment.
What You'll Own
Quality Strategy & Leadership Define the QE strategy, quality gates, release readiness criteria, and governance model. Lead planning, estimation, and cross-team QA execution across multiple Agile squads.
Mobile App Testing (iOS & Android) Core Requirement Lead functional, regression, and exploratory testing of React Native iOS/Android apps covering digital ordering, loyalty, account management, and checkout. Implement mobile automation via Appium, WebdriverIO (with Appium), Detox, XCUITest, or Espresso. Validate across devices and OS versions using LambdaTest.
Web TestingDrive functional, regression, cross-browser, and accessibility testing across React JS web ordering portals. Automate using Playwright, WebdriverIO, Cypress, or Selenium. Ensure desktop/mobile web parity with app experiences.
API & Integration TestingTest Node.js RESTful APIs hosted on AWS, middleware orchestration, and third-party platform integrations including Punchh (loyalty), Olo (digital ordering), and FreedomPay (payments). Validate end-to-end customer journeys auth, loyalty enrollment, rewards redemption, checkout, and payment processing. Design contract testing strategies (Pact, Karate) and cover event-driven/async architectures.
Automation & Continuous Testing Build scalable frameworks across Mobile, Web UI, API, and Contract layers. Integrate into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, AWS DevOps). Enable automated validation for feature flags, canary releases, and progressive rollouts.
Test Environment & Data Management Manage cloud-native test environments on AWS. Define test data management, synthetic data generation, and service virtualization strategies to support continuous delivery.
Team Leadership Lead and mentor QA engineers. Establish standards, reusable frameworks, and drive continuous improvement. Report quality metrics, defect trends, and release readiness to executive stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 10 15 years in QE; 3+ years leading QA on enterprise digital platforms
- Hands-on mobile testing iOS and Android native apps (required)
- Experience testing React Native apps, React JS web frontends, and Node.js APIs
- Familiarity with QSR third-party platforms: Punchh, Olo, or FreedomPay (or similar loyalty/ordering/payment platforms)
- Automation expertise across:
- Mobile: Appium, WebdriverIO + Appium, Detox, XCUITest, Espresso
- Web: Playwright, WebdriverIO, Cypress, Selenium
- API: Rest Assured, Karate, Postman/Newman
- Cross-device/browser testing via LambdaTest
- CI/CD hands-on: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS DevOps Toolchain
- Strong AWS experience containerized and serverless workloads
- Experience with loyalty platforms, identity/auth systems, and digital commerce workflows
- Agile, Scrum, and SAFe delivery experience
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- QSR, restaurant tech, retail, or high-volume consumer-facing platform experience
- Experience with feature flags, canary releases, and progressive rollouts
- High-volume transactional systems with strict latency/availability SLAs
- Certifications: ISTQB, AWS, SAFe, Agile Testing, DevOps
