This is an opportunity for a strong product-minded engineer to take end-to-end ownership of features across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, instrumentation, and production systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own and deliver full-stack features across key marketplace flows, including search/results, property details, booking, and account experiences
- Build and ship features end-to-end across the UI, API, data model, instrumentation, rollout, and iteration
- Develop and contribute to modern frontend applications using React, TypeScript, and Next.js
- Contribute to a Next.js App Router codebase and establish pragmatic, maintainable engineering patterns
- Work closely with backend engineers on API contracts, including filtering, pagination, performance, and versioning
- Design and work with databases, including schema design and query-performance optimisation
- Build and maintain reliable production APIs and services
- Improve application quality through automated testing, code reviews, and observability
- Work with tools such as Playwright and Datadog to improve testing, monitoring, and production reliability
- Partner closely with Product and Design to translate complex system states into clear and intuitive user experiences
- Build dashboards, alerts, tracing, and runbooks to strengthen operational readiness
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement preventative measures to reduce regressions
- Contribute to system architecture, scalability, performance, reliability, and engineering best practices
- Take ownership of technical projects and drive ambiguous requirements through to completion
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building production web or mobile applications
- Strong full-stack engineering experience across both frontend and backend
- Strong programming experience with JavaScript / TypeScript
- Professional experience with React
- Experience working with Next.js, ideally Next.js App Router
- Experience building and working with production APIs
- Strong understanding of relational databases, including schema design and query performance
- Experience working with or navigating Rails / Ruby on Rails codebases
- Experience owning features end-to-end from implementation through production rollout
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and problem-solving ability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ownership startup environment
- Strong product sense and ability to connect technical decisions to UX, conversion, performance, and business impact
- Able to clearly explain technical decisions, trade-offs, and code you have personally written
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Nice to Have
- Experience at a high-bar engineering organization such as Stripe, Airbnb, or a similarly rigorous technology company
- Marketplace, e-commerce, travel, hospitality, booking, or other high-volume consumer product experience
- Experience with Playwright and Datadog
- Experience with observability, monitoring, tracing, dashboards, and production reliability
- Experience working with large-scale or high-traffic consumer applications
- Experience with product-led engineering teams and rapid-growth startups
- Experience improving application performance, conversion, reliability, or customer retention
- Experience working across complex frontend and backend systems
