Overview
TalentFish is casting a line for a Software Engineer – eCommerce. This is a 12-month Contract role in Lisle, IL. This position exists to augment delivery capacity on a modern, headless B2B eCommerce platform serving fleet operators, wholesale dealers, and commercial vehicle parts buyers, built on Spryker Cloud Commerce OS with a React/Next.js storefront, as the program drives toward an MVP customer and dealer rollout targeted for end of August 2026.
What You Bring to the Role. (Ideal Experience)
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, developed through formal education (4-year degree or equivalent) and prior work experience.
- Specializes in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript; Next.js/React; Python; SQL.
- Hands-on development experience building and maintaining customer-facing transactional web applications, including contribution to cart, checkout, order management, and pricing workflows in a production eCommerce environment.
- Experience consuming and building REST or GraphQL APIs to integrate commerce platforms with backend services, third-party systems, or ERP/OMS platforms.
- Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines or GitHub Actions) with automated test gating, and familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes/AKS deployments.
- Familiarity with application logging, monitoring, and performance telemetry (Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or equivalent).
- Experience developing eCommerce applications using Spryker, Commercetools, or other headless/composable architecture is a plus.
- Proficiency in AI-augmented development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or equivalent).
- What You'll Do. (Skills Used in this Position)
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain applications across the assigned workstream (Storefront, Core Commerce, Business Integrations, or DevOps/SRE).
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and deliver new features that meet business requirements defined by Product Owners.
- Identify and troubleshoot software defects.
- Participate in code reviews and uphold team quality standards.
- Implement security practices to protect applications and data.
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Independently design, develop, and implement well-scoped to medium-sized features, working within the established technology stack and seeking guidance from senior engineers on complex problems.
- Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the POD.
